Director – Guy Korngold (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Guy Korngold spent three years as a camper at Camp Kinneret and then became a Biluim camper in 1985. In 1986 he participated in Biluim Israel and then returned to Camp Kinneret the following summer. Guy spent the next six summers at Camp Kinneret and ultimately served as the Program Director in 1991 and 1992. In 1993 and 1994, Guy spent his summers in Israel guiding teenagers throughout the Israeli landscape. He enjoyed this experience immensely and therefore chose to stay in Israel for the year and serve as a madrich and coordinator for the Young Judaea Year Course Program.
This experience led him to New York City where he spent the next three years as the National Director of Hamagshimim, the college and university expression of Hadassah. Summers were spent coordinating activity at the Hadassah leadership camp in Upstate New York. Guy then decided to return to Montreal where he enrolled in the Concordia University MBA program. Guy also has his BA Anthropology and a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Guy is married to Erica Rubin (also a former Kinneret/Biluim camper and staff member) and they are the proud parents of Daniel and Mia who seem to enjoy their summers at campmore then anyone else! Guy started to play guitar at the age of sixteen while a camper at Biluim and lists canoeing and camping among his great passions. Guy has been happily serving as the Camp Kinneret-Biluim Director since 1999.
Mark Kachuk – Assistant Director
Mark has been a camper in Canadian Young Judaea for as long as he could pronounce chazak v’amatz. Starting at Camp Shalom in 2003 he spent six foundational summers there, then moved up through the system to Solelim, and attending Biluim Canada in 2011, followed by Biluim Israel in 2012. He served as a staff member at Camp Solelim for 5 years finishing as the Program Director in 2017. Mark was a madrich on Biluim Israel in 2018 and served as the first Program Director of Machane Lev, Canada’s first LGBTQ+ Jewish overnight camp founded by CYJ.
Mark lived in Montreal for four and a half years where he attended Concordia University majoring in history with a minor in film studies. While living in Montreal, Mark worked at the Jewish Y as the Aquatics Coordinator and was inspired by Jewish Montreal. His real passion however was rebuilding and bringing CYJ programming to Montreal to the CKB family through JOLT (Jewish outreach leadership training), CYJ’s national teen leadership program. During that time, Mark developed strong relationships with CKB campers and families. Mark currently works as CYJ’s National Education Director based in Toronto, helping to facilitate programs from coast to coast to build a strong Jewish identity for CYJ’s youth. Mark is excited to be joining the CKB family as the Assistant Director of Camp Kinneret-Biluim. He looks forward to working part-time throughout the year with Guy from both Toronto and Montreal, and working full time at Camp Kinneret-Biluim this summer!
